はじめに
NVIDIA Graceベースのシステム Isambard 3 について、アナウンスありました。
Isambard 3 supercomputer
Isambard 3 は、384 個の Grace CPU Superchips からなる Supercomputer。下図は上記のNVIDIAのアナウンスのページから説明のために引用します。
HPE製で、10 Rack のようです。HPE Cray Shasta とは違った感じですね。。。そうなると、NICは Slingshot ではなく、InfiniBandなんですかね。
Grace CPU Superchips ってどんな感じ？ということで、COMPUTEX taipei 2023 に展示されていたものが下記です。このツイートから説明のために引用します。
によると、
The Isambard machine comes with two partitions. One is based entirely on Grace-Grace and has 384 of these superchips across six racks of HPE Cray XD2000 machinery (that’s 64 Grace-Grace superchips per rack) to bring 55,296 Arm cores to bear.
HPE Cray XD200 は、こちら
6 ラックで、384 個 だと、1ラックで64 個、1ラックは 42 Uとすると、32 x 2 個って感じですかね。
“Rosetta” interconnects and its own network interface cards. McIntosh-Smith says that the choice was between 200 Gb/sec or 400 Gb/sec InfiniBand or 200 Gb/sec Slingshot 11, and the GW4 collective chose Slingshot because 200 Gb/sec was enough and it was cheaper than InfiniBand.
とあり、Slingshot-11なんですね。。。
Grace CPU SUperchips なので、Graceの数は2倍の 768 個？
Graceベースのシステムとしては、
- Swiss National Supercomputing Centre : ALPS
- Los Alamos National Labotatory : VENADO
の発表は既にあり、今回の Isambard 3 は3番目のシステム。
COMPUTEX Taipei 2023 では、
- MareNostrum 5 : BSC (Barcelona Supercomputing Center)
- Shaheen-III : KAUST (Grace-Hopper)
- Taiwania 5 : NCHC (Grace-Grace)
おわりに
ALPS、VENADOは、写真を見ると、HPE Cray Shastaベースのようなので、NICはSlingshot-11。HPE では、このSlingshot-11が強いということなんでしょうね
