TenstorrentのQuasarは、今年テープアウトし、年末か来年にチップが上がってくると

はじめに

一昨日、昨日と、Tenstorrentの内容でした。今日も引き続き、Tenstorrentの内容です。

今日は、Samsung SF4Xで開発すると言われている low cost AI chiplet である Quasar についてです。

Quasar とは

下記のXの投稿のスライドにあるように、Quasar は Blackhole の後に開発する予定になっている Low Power, Low Cost ML Chiplet です。

Low Cost なのでメモリは、GDDR6が4個のみです。ただし、PCIe Gen5 x16 なのでそれなりのお値段にはなると思います。ゲーミング用GPUのお安い方ぐらいですかね。die size が 250mm²ですから

Quasarの開発

Korea JoongAng Daily の下記の記事によると、

Samsung Electronics. The startup became one of the first clients of the Korean chipmaker's fabrication plant in Taylor, Texas. Its Quasar chiplets, slated for a 2024 release, will be manufactured there on 4-nanometer nodes. When asked whether Samsung's delay of the Taylor facility's mass production from the latter half of this year to next year has impacted his company's production timeline, Keller said the prototype in question is already in production.

つまり、「Quasarは、今年テープアウトし、年末か来年にチップが上がってくると」

おわりに

Quasarのスケジュールが2024年ということで、このスケージュールはチップを開発する時期でチップを入手する時期ではないようです。

とは言え、4nm のチップの開発はしているということになりますね。
